SPECIAL PROBLEMS


CATALOG DESCRIPTION:
Individual projects or directed reading. Open to upper division students only. Acceptance requires the approval of a faculty sponsor in the area of study. 1 – 3 units.
REQUIREMENTS:


  1. Upper division status and a GPA of 2.5 or above in the major.




  1. No more than 6 units in Family and Consumer Sciences 195 or 199 may be counted toward the major.




  1. A student must make arrangements with a full-time faculty member for supervision of a field study experience and initiate a planning conference no later than the end of the second week of classes. Please refer to the student requirement check list.




  1. Check with an instructor in your field for specific prerequisites, i.e. course work or experience.




  1. Students wishing to enroll in FACS 199/299 Special Problems must turn in their approved and signed proposal to the department office by the end of the third week of the semester in which they plan to receive credit. If approved proposals are not received by this date, students will be dropped from the final supervisory course class list received during the 4th week of the semester.

The instructor’s signature on the proposal indicates approval of the supervisory course. Add forms will not be signed until the project outline is accepted and the proposal is completed.
