Global Instructions

A ‘global’ IP number allows a site in Region 14 to call any other DL unit outside of the immediate Region 14 area point to point. Here are the instructions for a Tandberg 880 to install your global IP, turning on NAT, and put the system back inside the Region 14 firewall. How do you know if your system is a Tandberg 880 Legacy model, simply look at your remote control? If it is a long slender black remote control with green, yellow, and blue quick keys at the very top, your system is a Tandberg 880 Legacy.

REMEMBER with the 10. number you can only call inside Region 14. With the 216. number you can call anywhere outside of Region 14, but not inside Region 14.

  1. Turn on your system – TANDBERG 880 will show on your screen with your system name (usually the campus name) My IP Number and My IP Address. The IP Number and Address will be the same number except one will have asterisks (*) and the other will have dots (.).

  2. With this screen showing, press the “menu” button on your remote.

  3. The ‘Main Menu’ will appear – scroll down by using the down arrow on your remote and highlight ‘Terminal Settings’ then press ‘OK’.

  4. The ‘Terminal Settings’ window will appear – LAN Settings will already be highlighted – press ‘OK’.

  5. The ‘Lan Settings’ will appear – scroll down to ‘H.323 Settings and press ‘OK’.

  6. The H.323 Settings window will appear – scroll down to ‘Use Gatekeeper” and change that to “Off” then (MOST Important) press ‘OK’ to save the change.

  7. Scroll down to ‘Advanced H.323 Settings’ and press ‘OK’.

  8. The ‘Advanced H.323 Settings’ window will appear. Scroll down to ‘NAT’ and select ‘on’ then (MOST IMPORTANT) press ‘OK’ to save the change.

  9. In the ‘NAT Address’ enter your NAT address then (Most Important) press ‘OK’. FIRST NOTE: When you add a three (3) digit number, the curser will automatically move to the next number field. When you add a two (2) digit number use the right arrow key to move to the next number field. SECOND NOTE: After you load your global IP number in the NAT Address the first time, you will not have to do that step again.

  10. Now use the ‘blue’ quick key to back all the way out until you get back to the original screen. TANDBERG 880 will now show on the screen BUT your IP Number and IP Address will have been replaced with ‘My IP Address and the global IP number you entered followed by ‘(NAT)’.

  11. You are now ready to make a global IP call to anyone outside Region 14 or anyone outside of Region 14 can call your system by dialing your global IP.

  12. To test, make a test call to Gerri Maglia at Region 11. Her global IP number is 216.213.254.101 – other test locations are at the Dallas Tandberg Office 12.148.76.183

To put you system back inside Region 14 network so you can connect to Region 14 sites, repeat step 1-5 above. Then:

  1. The H.323 Settings window will appear – scroll down to ‘Use Gatekeeper” and change that to “Manual” then (MOST Important) press ‘OK’ to save the change.

  2. Scroll down to ‘Advanced H.323 Settings’ and press ‘OK’.

  3. The ‘Advanced H.323 Settings’ window will appear. Scroll down to ‘NAT’ and select ‘off’ then (MOST IMPORTANT) press ‘OK’ to save the change.

  4. Now use the ‘blue’ quick key to back all the way out until you get back to the original screen. TANDBERG 880 will now show on the screen BUT your IP Number and IP Address will have been changed back the original numbers.

  5. You are now ready to make a connection inside Region 14.
