COMPETE BY «HIRCH’s»?

NOVIKOV Dmitry A. – Dr. Sci. (Technical), Prof., Corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy director of Institute of Control Sciences RAS, Moscow, Russia. E-mail: novikov@ipu.ru
Abstract. The paper analyzes in a polemical form the typical aberrations and myths (common as for officials from science governance, and, often, for the scientists) about the possibility and expediency of using formal bibliometric indicators to assess the working efficiency of individual and collective research activities.

PROFESSIONAL PREFERENCES OF YOUNG PEOPLE AS AN INDICATOR OF SOCIAL CHANGES

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying of changes in professional preferences of graduates of schools in several points of time. In 1965 there was held an original empirical research of Leningrad sociologist Vera Vodzinskaya. 30 years later, in 1994-1995, the diploma projects on the basis of surveys of graduates of 5 schools of St. Petersburg were carried out. As in the first basic research there was used a list format (from 55 to 60 units) professions, a set of estimation criteria (from 5 to 8), a scale with 1-10 points. In 50 years, in 2014, the diploma project of Aleksandra Stepantsova was realized (58 professions, 8 criteria, and a 10-points scale). Research studies were carried out by graduates – sociologists of S.-Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts. When preparing a format of survey every time it was necessary to solve two main problems: (1) which professions to include into a list for estimation (because one part of professions disappeared, others appeared, and also it was necessary to keep a part of professions as a base for comparison) and (2) what criteria to use for estimating professions (it was required to fill up the list of criteria in order to specify essential details of a situation with professional representations of modern graduates of schools). There is also one more serious limiter exists – the volume of the task offered to school students (it is possible to use only two lessons for the survey – 90 minutes). The aim of this article is to represent results of research-2014 in a comparative context with other researches, to mark emphases on the changes revealed.

THE CONTROLLING SYSTEM OF RESEARCH UNIVERSITY

NIKULINA Irina E. Dr. Sci. (Economics), Professor, National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk, Russia. E-mail: nie@tpu.ru

Abstract. Strengthening of competition among universities requires special demands on the quality of the scientific and educational process and university management system. Within the existing system of university quality management it is important to consider controlling. Controlling system acts as a conceptual and methodological basis for integration and coordination of university management, as an instrument of formation and future accounting feedback in the process of governance. For research universities it is particularly important to establish a system of controlling considering a large number of software development activities, as well as indicators of their achievement.

Abstract. The objective of this paper is to investigate the pedagogical impact of mobile voting tools on creating collaborative environment at university lecture courses and getting immediate feedback from large classes. Our research demonstrated that integration of mobile voting app Student Response System (SRS) created in Norwegian University HiST (Trondheim) influenced not only lecture design – time management, the mode of material presentation, activity switch patterns – but also learners-teacher interaction, student collaboration and output, formats of activities and tasks. SRS supported lectures help instructors gradually get the grasp of a new type of digital classroom – flipped classroom, and then, in the long run, MOOC lecturing. The analysis based on qualitative and quantitative data collected from 56 undergraduate students showed that SRS supported lectures enhance their motivation, improve their intercultural competence and language skills.

Abstract. The article discusses the topical questions of formation of university teachers’ competences needed in conditions of education modernization. To solve this problem an appropriate system of university teachers’ training and retraining is required. Modern teacher must have a set of specific competences including such groups as functional, research and pedagogical, personal, and ethical. Meanwhile, the lecturer is in a situation where, on the one hand, the administration increases the load, and tightens the requirements, and on the other hand, the students exert pressure on teachers. In this situation universities should create the appropriate conditions to motivate teachers to improve their qualification, to update continuously learning methods.
