SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 49

In Memory

of

Adriana Pequeño Salazar

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Adriana Pequeño Salazar, who died March 8, 2004, at the age of 37; and

WHEREAS, Adriana was born in California on June 14, 1966, to Blanca and Antonio Pequeño; she moved to Texas in 1970 and grew up in McAllen; she married Antonio Salazar, Jr., and moved to Brownsville; the couple raised seven children and wanted to adopt more; and

WHEREAS, Adriana was employed as a legal secretary and was dedicated to her work as a homemaker; her time with her family included following her sons' football games and coaching her daughter Bianca in kickball; and

WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church and was well known as a loving and giving person; even in her death, she gave the gift of life; her organs were donated, as she had requested, and today three people live because of her; and

WHEREAS, Adriana was a warm and gentle woman whose integrity and generosity will long be remembered by those whose lives she touched; a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

78th Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Adriana Pequeño Salazar:

her husband, Antonio Salazar, Jr.; her daughters and sons in law,

Erika and William Elizondo, Bianca Salazar, and Carmen and

Julio Sanchez; her sons and daughter in law, Joey Herrera,

Tony Salazar III and Daisy, Alex Salazar, and Little Tony Salazar; her mother, Blanca Tamez Pequeño; her brothers, Antonio Pequeño, Jr., Albert Pequeño, and Jose Angel Pequeño; and her five grandchildren; and, be it further



RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the

Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do

so in memory of Adriana Salazar.
