SITES AND FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
The Board of Education recognizes that the physical well being of all students, employees, and visitors should be adequately protected whenever persons shall enter or use school-owned facilities. It is imperative that all school district personnel accept responsibility for the safety of others present in school buildings or on school grounds, and observe generally accepted safety procedures while performing their assigned duties.
Toward this end, the Board hereby establishes a comprehensive safety program that includes but is not limited to the following (program administrator(s) listed in parentheses):
Annual health and safety inspection of all facilities (District Administrator and staff).
Verified compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations (District Administrator, head custodian, and contracted outside consultants as needed).
Long-range planning designed to ensure that all sites and facilities are maintained within acceptable standards of safety (District Administrator, head custodian, and outside assistance as necessary).
Timely identification and correction of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions (District Administrator and head custodian).
Establishment of an ongoing in-service safety education program for all employee groups (District Administrator an/designee).
Integration of safety education into all curriculum areas including extracurricular athletics (District Administrator and instructional staff).
Formal review of student/faculty accident reports (District Administrator).
Responsibility for the overall development and implementation of the aforementioned program shall be assigned to the district administrator and delegated to other instructional and support staff as appropriate. Request for safety related improvement of sites and facilities will be presented to the Board of Education for review unless emergency action is required. In such cases, the District Administrator will act to correct this situation.
