    Ensure that Anonymous access is checked by right-clicking on the Wise Preflight Analysis Virtual Directory in IIS, then selecting Properties, then Directory Security > Edit in the Authentication Method dialog.




  1. Right-click on the Wise_Managed_Enterprise virtual directory in IIS. Read permissions should be selected (Log visits and Index are optional).

  2. Check that the Wise Preflight Analysis virtual directory in IIS has an error on the Virtual Directory.

  3. Go to SQL Enterprise Manager and ensure that there is a WiseSvc Login under the Security folder.

  4. Open the Wise Repository Manager and select the Wise Services Database. Navigate to the far right and locate the Settings button. The second dialog is the Database Service Logon Information dialog. Create a new password in this dialog and complete the wizard.

  5. Deselect Show friendly HTTP errors check box in Internet Explorer browser by right-clicking on Internet Explorer selecting Properties and choosing the Advanced tab.

  6. Clear out the Internet Explorer cache.

  1. Open the browser and click Tools from the menu.

  2. Click Internet Options.

  3. Select both the Delete Files and Delete Cookies buttons.

  1. Check to ensure that ASP.Net is registered and enabled. If .NET and IIS were not installed in a specific correct order, APS.NET may not be registered.

    Use the following command line to manually register ASP.NET:

    C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\\aspnet_regiis.exe –i

    Note: The version of .NET Framework may differ depending on which version is installed.


  2. Enable Active Server pages (ASP.net) and All Unknown ISAPI Extension in IIS manager for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista. To Enable All Unknown ISAPI Extension in IIS manager, do the following:

  1. Access the IIS settings through the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager in Windows 2003 Server or Windows Vista.

  2. Once the console is open, expand the local computer node and highlight Web Services Extensions on the right-hand pane.

  3. Select to allow the extensions for Active Server Pager and All Unknown ISAPI Extensions (which are prohibited by default).






  1. Verify that the Config.ini file exists in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Wise Solutions\Preflight Analysis\Config.

  2. Stop then restart the WISESVC from within Services in the Windows Administration Console.

  3. Check permissions in the registry and web folders for the Internet Guest Account IUSR. This user (InternetGuestAccount(\IUSER_) should have full control:

  1. HKLM\Software\Wise Solutions folder and subkeys

  2. C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Wise Solutions\Preflight Analysis

  1. Check the ability to view files in the Preflight Analysis folder by entering the path to a file in the browser. Example: http:///Wise_Preflight_Analysis/default

  2. Obtain a log file for Preflight issues at: C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\W3SVC1\

  3. Check for the WiseWebService.dll in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\Wise Solutions\Web Service to ensure it exists.

  4. Go to Edit > Tools in WPS and select Preflight Analysis from the list of tools. Ensure the following URL is included in the URL field: http:///Wise_Preflight_Analysis/

    If these steps do not fix the issue, remove then reinstall WPS (Database will not need to be reinstalled) ensuring that the serial number that installs QA is included during the installation.
