The Boerbonefontein Pruimveld is in many respects similar to the Kruisrivier Spekboom-Pruimveld, but here Spekboom (Portulacaria afra) is less abundant and mostly restricted to north facing slopes. Woody trees and shrubs (e.g. Carissa haematocarpa, Euclea undulata, Gloveria integrifolia, Nymannia capensis, Pappea capensis, Rhigozum obovatum, etc.) are also abundant in the matrix Succulent Karoo communties, where Asbos (Pteronia incana), Kapokbos (Eriocephalus africanus) and Vygies (several Drosanthemum species, Lampranthus haworthii and Ruschia ceresiana) are often the dominant species. Grasses (e.g. Cenchrus ciliaris, Ehrharta calycina, Eragrostis curvula, Digitaria argyrograpta, Digitaria eriantha, Panicum deustum, Sporobolus africanus, Stipa dregeana, etc.) are often also abundant in the lower lying areas. Stem- and leaf succulents (e.g. Aloe microstigma, Aloe ferox, Cotyledon orbiculare, Gasteria brachyphylla, Sarcostemma viminale, Tylecodon paniculata, Tylecodon wallichii, etc.) and geophytes (e.g. Chlorophytum comosum, Dipcadi viride, Drimia capensis, Hessea stellaris, Ornithogalum graminifolium, etc.) are also abundant in these communities. No rare or localised endemic species are known from this unit, but it is poorly surveyed.
