Statistical Interaction Exercise

The following table shows the relationship of students' mean achievement scores to the size and type of the students' class. Notice that you can put four different means in this table.

Assume that test scores go from 0-100. Construct five different tables, each one to correspond to each of the five patterns listed below. Also assume that there is no sampling error or other sources of random error, and therefore construct each table to fit a perfect pattern.


The five different patterns are:
1)No relationships.
2)Relationship of mean achievement to class type only.
3)Relationship of mean achievement to class size only.
3)Relationship of mean achievement to class type and to class size, relationship additive.
4)Relationship of mean achievement to class type and to class size, relationship interactive.

What to prepare:


Prepare a sheet(s) of paper on which you show five different tables, one for each of the five patterns listed above. Clearly label each table.
