Purpose

This unit standard is for people in the signmaking industry.
People credited with this unit standard are able to access signmaking industry software for computer generated vinyl layouts and graphics, and cut the letters using industry software.

Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Access signmaking industry software for computer generated vinyl layouts and graphics.
Evidence requirements
1.1 Computer system is operated in accordance with operating manual.
1.2 Industry software package is run in accordance with software manual.
Outcome 2
Cut the letters using industry software.
Evidence requirements
2.1 Grade of vinyl is selected according to job specification.
2.2 Graphics are produced to job specification on monitor by use of function commands or pen.
Range includes but is not limited to – font select, letter height, half-font, spacing, letter slant, auto kern, length, scale factor, centre justify, reverse swap, left/right justify.
2.3 Graphics and letters are cut by use of the identified function commands.
Range includes but is not limited to – speed, arc/rotate, x-y move, auto number, border.
2.4 Design is saved for future use as instructed by on-screen menu and according to company policy.
