Transition Arrangements




Version 2

Version 2 was issued to indicate that this qualification is expiring.


This qualification has been replaced by the National Certificate in Parks and Recreation (Park Ranger) (Level 3) [Ref: 1475].

Previous versions of the qualification

Version 1, while not a direct replacement this qualification was developed following a review of the National Certificate in Community Recreation (Level 4) with strands in Community Arts, Countryside Parks, and Urban Parks [Ref: 0451].


Sfrito recommends that anyone working towards the National Certificate in Community Recreation (Level 4) with strands in Community Arts, Countryside Parks, and Urban Parks [Ref: 0451] either complete that qualification or transfer their results to one of the following qualifications:


  • National Certificate in Parks and Recreation (Level 3) with strands in Local Authority Park Ranger, and Parks Contractor [Ref: 1268]

  • National Certificate in Community Recreation (Community Art Work) (Level 4) [Ref: 0450]

  • National Certificate in Community Recreation (Level 2) [Ref: 0936].

The last date for the award of the National Certificate in Community Recreation (Level 4) with strands in Community Arts, Countryside Parks, and Urban Parks [Ref: 0451] is 31 December 2009.


It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by this review. Sfrito will address requests for transition received after December 2009 on a case-by-case basis. People who wish to seek advice or feel disadvantaged by these transition arrangements are advised to contact Sfrito at the address below.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards – see table below.

Providers and Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by a recognised Quality Assurance Body before they can register credits from assessment against standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and the moderation system are outlined in the associated Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) for each standard.
