Friday, May 30th – Toronto – Overnight Flight to Reykjavík

Throughout this itinerary are links to You-Tube adventures in Iceland, some of the famous scenic vistas we will visit, farms, cities, etc. Be sure to explore the links as you read this itinerary. A trip like no other. - Depart from Pearson International Airport at 9:05 pm on IcelandAir.


Saturday, May 31st – Reykjavík - Akureyri

  • Arrival mid-day from Amsterdam to Iceland – land of Fire and Ice.

  • Stop for lunch on the way to the northern city of Akureyri (<-You-Tube Link).

  • Drive straight to the north, people can rest on the bus on the way.

  • Overnight and dinner at Lamb Inn – click on the link to see where you will be staying, a farm stay that is unlike any other – built from an old livestock barn, this wonderful farm stay with Icelandic hospitality and a visit with a family who know agriculture AND Iceland from practical farming experience and also from the Political side as well.


Sunday, June 1st – Akureyri Region – Northern Iceland

  • The Eyjafjordur area. Running up Eyjafjörður’s (<- link) Western flank from Akureyri, Route 82 affords stunning views over icy waters to the glacier-formed mountains which serve as a protective wall all around the fjord. If you have time, its well worth making the trip from Akureyri to see not only the mountains but also the rich farmland hereabouts, which is heavily grazed during the summer by cattle and sheep. The long hours of daylight in this part of Iceland, coupled with mild temperatures, make excellent growing conditions for various crops, and the small white dots you’ll see in the fields are barrel-shaped bundles of hay, neatly packaged in white plastic, to provide the animals with much needed food during the long months of winter. Noted for its hundreds of wild ptarmigan, the highlight of any trip up the fjord is the island of Hrísey, near the mouth of Eyjafjörður and overlooked by the fishing village of Dalvík, itself the starting point for some excellent

Monday, June 2nd - Akureyri Region – Northern Iceland

  • Mývatn tour (co guided by Johannes Geir Sigurgeirsson)

  • Visit Goðafoss waterfall on the way to Mývatn.

Tuesday, June 3rd - Akureyri - Gauksmýri in Húnaþing

  • After breakfast, check out and travel south-west.

  • Drive to Skagafjörður area with a stop at Holar where Holar University is located with its departments of Aguaculture and fish biology, Equine studies and Rural tourism.

  • Lunch en route.

  • Visit the tannery visitor center in Sauðárkrókur.

  • Visit a mink breeding farm at Skörðugil.

Wednesday, June 4th – Húnaþing - Reykjavik

  • Breakfast before saying good-bye to our hosts, then off to the south to the capital of Reykjavik.

  • Drive to Borgarfjörður area to visit the Agricultural museum at Hvanneyri.

  • Lunch before visiting the amazing hot springs and waterfalls Iceland is famous for.

  • Visit Deildartunguhver hot spring and Hraunfossar waterfalls.

  • Overnight and dinner in Reykjavík.


Thursday, June 5th - Reykjavik - Hella

  • Breakfast before we travel on the famous Golden Circle route in Iceland.


  • The Golden circle takes in Þingvellir National Park, Geysir hot spring area and Gullfoss Waterfall that drops to the sea. This is a view seen on many television specials that show some of Iceland’s famous natural and scenic beauties that are unlike anywhere else in the world.   • Lunch

  • Visit Friðheimar farm and get an introduction to their geothermal heated green houses and visit the horse stables (Ctrl-click on photo for web-link).

  • Overnight and dinner at a farm near Hella


Friday, June 6th – Hella - Reykjavik

  • Breakfast will be followed by a tour of the South shore if Iceland, the land of Glaciers, Ice bergs and vistas that show off the beauty of sea, sky and ice.

  • We take time to visit and view the Seljalandsfoss waterfall (You-Tube link), Skógar waterfall, Skógar folk Museum, for some amazing photographs that will try to capture the amazing beauty that is Iceland.

  • Visit Eyjafjallajökull visitor center to watch a 20 min movie about farmers living by Eyjafjallajökull volcano during the eruption in 2010.

  • Visit Reynisfjara black sand beach and Dyrhólaey that should be packed with puffins at this time, since it is the time when young puffins are being born and the area is filled with thousands for these seabirds, a site seen in only a few places in the world.

  • Visit Fagridalur fishing farm famous for their arctic char and also they have sheep and meat production at the farm (parma).

  • Drive back to Reykjavík for our last night and our farewell dinner.

  • Overnight in Reykjavík


Saturday, June 7th – Reykjavik - Toronto

  • Breakfast first, pack bags, get ready to go. Keep out your bathing suit - visit to the Blue Lagoon.

  • Visit the Blue lagoon on the way to the Airport – and take the time to relax before your flight in the healing mineral hot spring fed lagoon. This is the perfect way to get prepared for your flight home.

  • Flight back home at 17:00
