________________________________________________________
TO ALL RANKS, 7TH US ARMORED DIVISION.
It has been a great honour to have had the 7th US Armored Division serving under my command, and it is with much regret that I now have to say goodbye to you all.
You have had a hard and strenuous time with much heavy fighting, and you may well be proud of the results you have achieved.
I would like to thank you all for your wholehearted co-operation, and to tell you how much your efforts have been appreciated by us.
I hope that perhaps you will carry away some friendly memories of the time you have spent in 8 (British) Corps, when we were fighting side by side against the common enemy.
In the meantime I wish you all the best of Luck and a safe return to your homes. Those wishes are not mine alone; they are those of all ranks of the whole Corps.
/s/ R.N.O'Connor
