Introduction to the Israeli Standard

The present Israeli Standard is the standard of the International Organization for Standardization ISO 8980-2 (second version) dated February 2004, approved as Israeli Standard with modifications and additions.


In the Hebrew language are included:

  • paragraph on the matter of the application of the Standard with modifications and additions

  • detailing of the modifications and additions to the paragraphs pertaining to the International Standard

Following the Hebrew part is included the International Standard, verbatim.


This Standard is part of a series of Standards dealing with ophthalmic lenses.

The serial’s parts are as follows:

SI 798 part 1 - ophthalmic optics - uncut finished spectacle lenses: Specifications for

single-vision and multi-focal lenses

SI 798 part 2- ophthalmic optics - uncut finished spectacle lenses: Specifications for

progressive power lenses


Standard’s application (paragraph 1 of the international Standard with modifications and additions)

Remark:

The modifications and additions in this paragraph are brought in a different font.

This Standard determines the requirements regarding the optical and geometrical properties of the uncut finished spectacle progressive power lenses as well as the requirements regarding the resistance of these lenses to impact testing and according to UV radiation blocking.

Update of the Standard

The Israeli Standards are reviewed from time to time, at least every five years, in order to adapt them to scientific and technological developments. The users of the Standards will verify that they hold the updated version of the Standard and its Amendments’ Records.

A document published in the Official Publications as an Amendment Record, can be a separated Amendment Record or an amendment combined in the Standard.

The Official Standard

Should be inspected if the document is official or if parts of the document are officials. Official Standards or the Official Amendment Record (entirely or partially) come into force 60 days from the publication of the notice in the Official Publications, except if in the notice is determined a later date of entry into force.
