I have supervised 26 students to the completion of their postgraduate degree. I am currently supervising eight postgraduate students. In addition, 40 postgraduate students from various teaching institutions (University of Johannesburg, Tshwane University of Technology, Yaounde University- Cameroon and University of KwaZulu-Natal) having microbiological aspects in their projects have been supervised. In addition, I am host to two post-doctoral fellows.
3. RESEARCH
My field of interest is microbial viability studies but predominantly in the investigation of antimicrobial agents with specific reference to medicinal plants used in African traditional healing. Correlation between chemical composition and antimicrobial activities as well as the role of synergy and antagonism within the microbial context is also undertaken.
