Relevant Work in Science
The focus of current research is the ecology and sustainable use of grassland ecosystems (native, range, and cultivated), based on research in biogeography and organismal biology (insects, plants, vertebrates, pathogens and decomposers). Topics of research include reducing ecological impacts of pesticides; development of biological control, geographical and spatial analysis, biometeorology, watersheds and water quality, ecosystem processes, forecasting, alternatives to insecticides, pest outbreak management, population sampling, biophysical and ecological modelling, foodweb dynamics, impacts of weather and climate, assessment of biodiversity, food web linkages and modelling, ecology of species at risk, and management practices. New research (2005-2011) includes mainly the Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Grassland Ecosystems.
