A nominee for a team sport must achieve selection in the NSWCHS 1st team, nominations will not be accepted from NSWCHS 2nds, 3rds etc.

Champion school teams in any NSWCHS competition are not eligible for a North Coast Blue e.g. KO teams, Relay teams, multiple boat crews (Rowing, Canoeing)

North Coast Blues Awards recognise NSWCHS activities, not other organised activities.

Gymnastics/Trampolining nominees must have placed 1st in Division One.

Gold medal performances in individual events in the oldest age group or highest division will be considered in the years that the Pacific School Games are held.

Athletes with a disability should be nominated for a North Coast Blue if they meet the above criteria.

Col Fisher Sports Excellence Award
Outstanding Sportsman / Outstanding Sportswoman
In most cases the criteria for this award starts with a NSWCHS Blue.
The nominee must have or be receiving a North Coast Blue.
A history of participation in school sport as well as outstanding performance, leadership and character are the other discerning factors.
This is our top award – only the best of the best should be nominated.
a. Preamble:
This award is presented to a male and female sportsperson who have displayed excellence in their chosen sport during the current year and satisfied the criteria below listed.
b. Criteria:
The nominee should:
i. Be receiving or have received a NSW Combined High Schools Blue
AND/OR
ii. Be receiving or have received a North Coast Combined High Schools Blue
AND/OR
iii. Have competed at a School Sport Australia Championship
AND/OR
iv. Have been selected in a School Sport Australia team.
c. Personal Qualities:
i. The nominee must have displayed exemplary behaviour at all times. This includes behaviour at school and when representing the school at Zone, North Coast and/or higher levels.
ii. The nominee’s dress both on and off the competition arena will have been befitting a representative of the North Coast.
iii. The nominee must have exhibited the highest level of sportsmanship.
d. Limitation
There is no compulsion to award these awards to either or both sexes in any one year.
e. Endorsement:
The nominee must be endorsed by each of the following:

Sporting Blue
a. Preamble:
This is the highest North Coast Region sport award that can be bestowed on an individual.
b. Criteria:
The nominee must:
Team Sports:
i. have represented NSW Combined High Schools and/or NSW All Schools with distinction at the highest School Sport Australia level in their sport in the current year.
OR
-
have been selected in a School Sport Australia team (including under age teams)
OR
-
have refereed at a School Sport Australia Championship or Carnival.
Individual Sports:
-
have been placed first in the final of an open/17+ years event at the NSW Combined High Schools Championship and/or placed first in the final of an open/17+ years event at a School Sport Australia Championship in the current year.
AND
ii. have had a consistent record of excellence when representing the North Coast.
c. Personal Qualities:
i. The nominee must have displayed exemplary behaviour at all times. This includes behaviour at school and when representing the school at Zone, North Coast and/or higher levels.
ii. The nominee’s dress both on and off the competition arena will have been befitting a representative of the North Coast.
iii. The nominee must have exhibited the highest level of sportsmanship.
d. Limitation
i. The number of Blues to be awarded per sex per sport in any one year will be at the discretion of the Blues Committee with no compulsion to award any.
ii. A Blue may only be awarded once to a representative in a particular sport during his/her school years.
iii. An Honour Blue can be awarded to a student who has already been awarded a North Coast Blue and again meets all the criteria in subsequent years.
iv. Sports which have their state carnival calendared later in Term 4 will be acknowledged the following year.
NB: Athletes with a Disability should be nominated for a North Coast Blue if they meet the above criteria.
e. Discretionary Authority
The North Coast Blues Committee is given discretionary authority to award a North Coast Blue to a student who is clearly worthy of the award but may not necessarily meet the specified criteria. Such authority would only be invoked in exceptional circumstances and would have to be ratified by the North Coast School Sports Council.
f. Endorsement:
The nominee must be endorsed by each of the following:

Sports Recognition Award
a. Preamble:
This award is presented to a student who has represented the North Coast, with distinction, on three (3) or more occasions or has represented an under age NSWCHS or NSW All Schools team or has been selected in an Open NSWCHS or All Schools seconds or thirds team.
b. Personal qualities:
i. The nominee must have displayed exemplary behaviour at all times. This includes behaviour at school and when representing the school at Zone, North Coast and/or higher levels.
ii. The nominee’s dress both on and off the competition arena will have been befitting a representative of the North Coast.
iii. The nominee must have exhibited the highest level of sportsmanship.
c. Limitation:
i. Nominees are to be in Year 9 or above.
NB: Students in Years 7 and 8 will be considered if they have represented an under age NSWCHS or NSW All Schools team in that year.
ii. Sports that are calendared later in Term 4 will be considered for inclusion in the following year’s awards.

A nominee can only receive one Sports Recognition Award for the specific sport during his/her school years.
NB: Athletes with a Disability should be nominated for a North Coast Recognition award if they meet the above criteria.

The North Coast Blues Committee is given discretionary authority to award a North Coast Recognition to a student who is clearly worthy of the award but may not necessarily meet the specified criteria. Such authority would only be invoked in exceptional circumstances and would have to be ratified by the North Coast School Sports Council.

Sport Citation
a. Preamble:
The Sport Citation Award is a special award presented to students who have achieved outstanding results at national or international level while still at school in a NSW Department of Education and Training approved sport, but in an outside competition.
b. Criteria:
i. The nominees for this award would have achieved outstanding results in the specified events or championship(s).
ii. Performances in Paralympics sports or other disabled sports events at national or international level will be considered.
iii. A nominee can only receive one Sport Citation for the specified sport during his/her schools years.
c. Personal Qualities:
i. The nominee must have displayed exemplary behaviour at all times. This includes behaviour at school and when representing the school at Zone, North Coast and/or higher levels.
ii. The nominees dress both on and off the competition arena will have been befitting a representative of the North Coast.
iii. The nominee must have exhibited the highest level of sportsmanship.
